La “corrida de toros” es una de las taras coloniales que las personas hispanófilas estiman y celebran como legado de Colón. Ell@s dicen que la tauromaquia es “arte” y muestra del “valor” del torero.
En realidad, eso es un acto de barbarie. Una persona se ensaña con un toro al que se le ha limado los cuernos; golpeado la musculatura (muslos y el dorso, especialmente); y, se le sangra destrozando el músculo del cuello con rejoneos y banderillas. Lo que queda del toro se muestra en un espectáculo de ensañamiento y perverso que culmina en la muerte cruel del animal.
En España, ese “arte” viene de por lo menos el tiempo de Alfonso X "el Sabio", en el siglo XIII (1221-1284). La lámina 144 de las Cantigas de Santa Maria se presenta como “milagro” de la Virgen María. Lo que se ve es, y especialmente las viñetas 3 y 4, un público bárbaro, lanzando dardos, flechas, y lanzas a un toro encerrado hasta hacerlo caer desangrado.

Bullfighting is one of the colonial features Hispanophiles have in high regards and celebrate as one of the Colon’s leagacies. They even consider bullfighting as “art” and opportunity to show the bullfighter’s “courage.”
In reality, it is a barbaric act. A person abuses a bull whose horns have been previously filed; whose muscles (particularly, thigh and lumbar) has been beaten; and, whose muscles keeping up his head is being brutally pierced with spears by a man on horseback and barbed dart stucked into the bull's neck (banderillas). What remains of this bull is shown in a perverse and sadic show that culminates with the killing of the poor animal.
In Spain such “art” goes back to at least the 13th Century’s Alfonso X "the Wise" (1221-1284). The Cantigas de Santa Maria’ sheet No. 144 depicts a bullfighting as a miracle by Virgin Mary; however it, and particularly vignetes 3 and 4, shows a barbaric public throwing spears, big and small, against a bull locked in a small space until it falls bleed.
